Weekend of damage control

I’ve been scrambling over the weekend to do some damage control on what I call a typical rookie mistake. You see I had front page search engine ranking for keywords with the first video posted on YouTube. I thought it was easy to do so I decided to tweak on the video. If you are marketing anything online and want to try YouTube then here’s lesson number one for novice YouTubers (yes, that’s me) using the platform as a free form of advertising. If you ever get on coveted page one (or even pg 2) of organic natural search engine results then NEVER EVER replace or remove the YouTube video that got you there. If you want to continue the prime position of first page search results then avoid any temptations to do this, period. Organic natural page one ranking is coveted and has the best potential to drive traffic to your site because people tend to be more interested on first page results, duh. Long story short, I thought I was merely replacing upon removing the video and boy was I wrong (and dumb/stupid/ignorant/unaware/naïve/etc/etc/etc, I conjured up at least 50 more adjectives over the weekend). BUT, as Confucius once said, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do.” So I got busy with 2 more YouTube videos, 2 Squidoo lenses, one paid press release with WebWire ($19), and a free press release with IdeaMarketers. I also tweaked on keywords a bit, removing excess baggage and replacing with just 3 targeted keywords. At the time of this writing, Monday afternoon, I’m happy to report that I’m back on page 2 search results (top of the page), which is a vast improvement from being on page nowhere. There’s a couple other interesting things discovered over the weekend that I’ll save for another blog.

Oh yea, I am changing the titles and format a bit since this is becoming more freestyle and spontaneous than previous posts where I was a bit obsessed with what readers thought of my writings. Well I’m over it now, who cares? Besides, no one is reading my stuff and for all I know it just makes good food for search engine spiders, bots and crawlers, so they say . . .

Cheers,
New Netpreneur

Squidoo and WebWire

Hi folks, in the last couple days I’ve posted another press release and a squidoo lens. These are excellent outlets for promoting your website and the search engines like it too. Remember to keep your keywords targeted and relevent by using them in titles and context of your press releases and lenses.

Sincerely,

Organic search engine results with YouTube

YouTube, now this stuff really works for getting you up there in rankings on organic search engine results. I can attest to it now that I see my ranking in youtube. Amazing how this stuff really works! But it didn’t come easy. I absolutely struggled getting my first YouTube video online and eventually to my website. I did so many retakes I had to recharge the battery on my video camera at least three times because it went totally flat, no juice! And I lost my voice to boot! I shot the video outside on my deck which made for some unique challenges like my neighbor blowing leaves in his backyard with his super loud blower, school buses dropping off kids, including my own, and bugs flying up my nose, albeit good source of protein it was somewhat distracting. Now one good thing about shooting the video outside was the nice ambient sound of birds singing in the backyard. Here’s a good hint for a newbie shooting your first video. Don’t do like I did and try to read or memorize a script. It sucks! I mean, unless you are a trained professional actor/actress or reporter it comes across like you’re reading a hand written medieval manuscript aloud, you get the picture. If you have to write anything down to help you make the video just make it bullet points and then try to speak passionately about the bullet points without coming across with too much hype in your delivery. Easier said than done, I know. If you see my video it’s, well . . . you know what they say . . . you are your own worst critic. Needless to say I’m definitely shooting another video to replace what I have up now on my website, just as soon as the battery is fully charged.

Webhosting and WYSIWYG html editor

For anyone trying to get a website up and experience challenges (feel dumb), like me, to design, edit and publish your site to your webhost then I highly recommend trying BlueVoda Website Builder. It’s an easy to use WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) html editor and it’s free! You can even get a free domain name if you use VodaHost web hosting service. They offer very reasonable prices too, go ahead and shop around for web hosting prices to compare. Now I was first introduced to BlueVoda by my friend Sara Johnson. I wanted to see how far I could get on my own without asking for her help. When I first opened BlueVoda program I thought it would be easy to set up a basic webpage and get off to a quick start with my internet business. In fact I thought I could impress her with my techie skills so I set out to create a basic webpage by myself and gave it a wholehearted attempt. Well the first thing I discovered is how much I didn't know about website design and BlueVoda. So I racked my brain and spent a bit of time, actually LOTS of time, trying to figure out BlueVoda basics. Well I'm not much for reinventing anything so I reached out to Sara who coached me thru BlueVoda 101 and showed me how to get started. It literally took just one coaching session with Sara to get me on the right track. I'm having lots of fun now applying what Sara taught me about BlueVoda and website design. In fact I use BlueVoda everyday adding links and images and just tweaking here and there to make it just right. I even added my first YouTube html link and it was easy thanks to Sara! I would highly recommend Sara for anyone new to BlueVoda and website design. She explains things clearly in layman terms and is a joy to work with. Thanks Sara!

If you want to contact Sara you can reach her at sjjohnson@sympatico.ca, and tell her I said hello ;-)

Mini website in 30 minutes - live on webinar!

I attended another webinar for one of the GRN teams members and guests, thee really got deep into some html training and within 30 minutes created a personal branded website with a free template from www.coffeecup.com, complete with YouTube video, Aweber java script for his auto-responder, and basically a few keystrokes from rock-n-rollin some cash into his already deep pockets. It was pretty impressive stuff for a newbie like me, and inspiring too. I think even I can do this now. It’s beginning to sink in now and I’m really starting to understand Internet marketing.

Press release

The use of articles and press releases for SEO and search marketing are one of easiest methods of gaining high rankings for natural/organic search results. You can post articles and press releases at www.IdeaMarketing.com and www.1888pressrelease.com. They are just a couple of the popular sites you can use for free. The goal is the same as these blogs, to get search engines to pick up on keywords and relevancy to place your website higher in search engine results for relevant keywords.

Which GRN team?

This evening I attended webinar for Wealth Funnel System members and guests. One of the guests on the fence, yup you guessed it, a wedgie, asked about the system and if they could purchase and use the system for their existing Global Resorts Network home business even though they are not a member of their GRN team. The webinar hosts were so excited to answer the question they were talking on top of each other for a few seconds explaining that was exactly the purpose and goal of the system, to help anyone properly and effectively implement online marketing strategies regardless of the product they are trying to sell or company they are trying to promote, even if they are in direct competition with their GRN team. The host elegantly explained “we’re not greedy” and you could sense the guest was completely blown away. I smiled during the few seconds of deafening silence that gradually gave way to the stunned guest’s response “you mean I can spend less time training my team members by teaching them how to fish with your system rather than spoon feeding them one at a time every day?” or something to that effect. Well there you have it, their system is the most comprehensive system on the market today that teaches you how to successfully grow your business to its full potential. You can even use it to compete against the creator of the system, with his blessings. The host truly exemplified the phrase “Southern hospitality” with his team today.

Phases of internet marketering

Well it’s been a whole week since making the initial investment and I still haven’t made any money yet. So I keep myself occupied by chasing the guys making serious money online in hopes that some of their mojo (and money) rubs off on me. Ok, I’m going to pretend that I know what I’m talking about for a few minutes so pay attention please. Thank you ;-) A surefire way to hit the ground running and get your business up and profiting quickly (perhaps just a wee bit more than a week I hope, not too much longer I pray) is attending webinars to discover and implement the latest methods and techniques used by folks making serious cash on the internet. Some webinar hosts sprinkle inspirational personal development snippets during their webinars to maintain their team’s mindset, motivation and momentum. That said, I discovered something interesting and inspiring on a webinar last night where the host defined 4 stages of entrepreneurs:

Unconscious-incompetent: you don’t even know that you don’t know what to do
Aware-incompetent: you know that you don’t know what to do
Conscious-competent: you know, or perhaps think you know, that you know what to do
Unconscious-competent: you know what to do so well that you can do it in your sleep, literally.

I can confidently say at this time that I am somewhere just before stage 1. And if I butchered this beautiful inspirational piece the host conveyed on his webinar last night then I promise to redefine the stages upon graduation to stage 1.

Please help me achieve stage 1 by enjoying my blogs and sharing with your friends.

Due diligence

Hello again! Yesterday I blogged a little about the Global Resorts Network. Today I’m going to blog some more about it in hopes of gaining more of something I’m not really sure of, something about spiders and web circles and organic search results and other SEO jargon that’s way over my head. Anyway, they say it’s good for my website so I’m going to keep doing this until someone tells me I can stop doing this, or my website doesn’t need this anymore, whichever comes first.

In my obsessive search for the elusive perfect online business opportunity (for me) I discovered Global Resorts Network. Before joining GRN I researched and investigated many different GRN teams. Our team is just one of a myriad of affiliate teams marketing Global Resorts Network, and there are just as many marketing systems and techniques affiliated with Global Resorts Networks as there are GRN teams marketing the opportunity. During my research and due diligence I was surprised by the sheer number of GRN teams that are online and I was also pleased to find so many great GRN team leaders out there. Talk about vacillating over which team to join. I straddled the fence long enough to get a wedgie. Well it was the wedgie that encouraged me to accelerate the decision process and I wanted to do more than just flip a coin so I opted in to a few GRN websites and started to field calls from motivated GRNers. The GRN team leader that best matched my personality and style, and ultimately helped me undo my wedgie, was Forrest Bivens. Forrest Bivens is part of Jamison Herdrich’s GRN team and Jamison is part of Mark Hoverson’s GRN team. The combination of Forrest's and Jamison’s credibility, integrity and success as internet marketers made me extremely comfortable with the decision and I slept well that night.

Confessions of a New Netpreneur

Hello fellow netpreneurs and wannabe netpreneurs like me. I’m proud to admit that I’m new and just beginning to discover how to market online. OK, before I get more than three sentences into my blog let me make one thing crystal clear for anyone reading this blog, I don’t have a clue what I’m doing! Didn’t even know what blog stood for until I Googled it the other day. So I’m starting this blog to plot my netpreneur journey and to see if this stuff really works on search engine results for my website. Blogging I mean. I hope it works, at least I’m trying to psyche myself into firmly believing it works because the guys making serious cash on the internet tell me so, the secret and the laws of attraction tell me so, Napoleon Hill and Wallace Wattles tell me so, Oprah tells my wife so, and Tony Robbins . . . well, you get the picture . . . so here we go . . .

It’s mind boggling and intimidating to objectively filter the massive amount of information on the internet about making money online and deciding amongst the multitude of business opportunities to choose from. If you’re a newbie like me and determined as I am to make a decent living online then perhaps you can relate to the never-ending tireless search for the perfect online opportunity. After many months of research and due diligence I realized that in order to make my dreams a reality I eventually have to take action. Somehow I made the expression “paralysis-by-analysis” a reality for me and found myself in an endless loop searching for the perfect online opportunity. Sound familiar? Well, late last week, in fact just 5 days ago, I finally said enough is enough and convinced/psyched myself to take the risk, so I signed up with Global Resorts Network. I’m beginning to implement snippets of what I’m discovering in the training material, hence this blog.

If you’re searching like I was, you may have already discovered in your research and due diligence, that Global Resorts Network's team training is a program designed to help a newbie like me understand and effectively implement basic fundamentals to properly market an online business. Global Resorts Network is one of the best luxury resort memberships out there today and the team I joined is one of the best teams designed to help a newbie like me implement effective strategies for successful online marketing.

Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow.
